Chris Johnson has formidable experience in television production and newspaper journalism and management.
He’s worked on local and national newspapers, in broadcasting, PR and online news, in a career spanning four decades.
He was a UK Local TV pioneer, having establish Bay TV Liverpool, as internet TV station in 2011, then based on Mercury Press and Media Ltd, the press agency that he operated for 35 years.
In 2013, in a hotly contested competition run by Ofcom, Chris was part of the management team that secured the Local TV (LTDPS) licence covering the Liverpool city region.
Bay TV Liverpool launched on Freeview and Virgin Media in December 2014 and broadcast until October 2016, when it was acquired by Made Television.
The station, renamed Made in Liverpool, was launched on 19th October 2016.
Chris was Station Manager at Made in Liverpool, leading a team of 16 staff, for a further 14 months. He also served as Chairman of the Local TV Network, from April 2015 to March 2018.
A family man, with a lifelong interest in charity and voluntary work, Chris is Chairman of the James Bulger Memorial Trust and organiser of the Liverpool Press Club.
